Question: Why do you write to guys since you’re a girl?

I write to guys so that guys can get a girls perspective on relationships. I want to help you (guys) understand us so that you can treat us right. It’s all for your benefit. I want to give you advice and help you understand the female mind. There are a lot of guys out there who don’t know how to treat girls, and I want to give them a Biblical perspective as well as a girls perspective. Plus, who doesn’t want an in on the opposite genders mind?

Question: Is it Biblical for a girl to teach guys?

We are talking about 1 Timothy, where it talks about a woman’s role in the church and the verse that says “I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.” This has been a huge verse for me, and I do not take it lightly. I am not going to give you some excuse about how “it was just cultural and it doesn’t apply to us now.” I believe it does, to a point.

I do not believe a woman should teach Biblical doctrine or be in authority over a man. I have read a lot about the verses in the Chapter and the best source that I have found is by Douglas Moo (unfortunate last name isn’t it?!). If you want a very in depth explanation of the verse and the verses surrounding it, I suggest you go to this website. Here you will find an awesome explanation of the passage in 1 Timothy. It is a little long, but if you really want to dive into it, please do! This is a very hard passage to unpack!

In writing this blog and preparing for ministry, I am not teaching Biblical doctrine or being an authority over a men; therefore, I do not believe it is unbiblical.
